 Countermeasure Efficiency!

ok so we all know that the Countermeasure Dropper is used for launching Countermeasure Flares which A (decoy) flare is an aerial infrared countermeasure to counter an infrared homing ("heat seeking") surface-to-air missile or air-to-air missile. which you should know because you Launch them when you get a missile of any kind launched at you.

now i had been curious about this for a while but never really got around to testing it as i forgot about it, BUT!...

you could manually launch a CM by pressing your allocated button to manually launch 1, but you may have to repeatedly press it to lose the missile lock and get away, now that's hardly efficient because you could be having a hard time trying to evade projectiles shot at you...

but why not "AUTO LAUNCH!" yes... you can Automatically launch CM's while you panic in your cockpit as you take full control of your ship and try to evade incoming fire the only problem with this is you may not be able to fire back but here's how you do it.

Open your Options panel, [F1 -> Options] goto your control settings and Make a new Weapon group, now you should know how to set weapons, well its the same, just toggle that weapon group and active your CM launcher.

now while that weapon group is active, with the CM launcher [Yet to be tested with weapons, may fire CM's as you shoot], the Instant your get a missile lock on you, your Countermeasure flares will start dropping and do so until that pesky Missile takes the bait, this is good to use on craft with CounterMeasures and trying to flee from someone who is launching Cruise Disruptor's... of course they may start firing if your close enough so you will have to still try and run, but your chance's of escape+survival have just increased by 75%, congrats.

also apparently you can use mines as CM flare's just not as effective or use's friendly.... time it right and drop a weak mine and you may just take out the CD missile trailing you...

ok, just to confirm it, it does Auto Drop the CM's when the missile fired at you comes with in range, if your CM's have a 2k distance as soon as that missile comes into the 2k mark, it starts dropping and stops when the missile takes the bait, Nice...
